A Trio of Infallible Flavours: White Chocolate, Macadamias and Raspberry

HOM Admin -

Have you ever wondered why some ingredients seem to naturally attract each other, while others don't match at all? Apple and cinnamon are best friends, as are tomato and basil. Vanilla and avocado, no thanks. Strawberries and marmite? Another hard no. Certain flavours just work and this comes down to ingredients sharing key aromas. Fun Fact: 80% of our flavour experience is in fact defined by our sense of smell.

The concept of flavour-pairing is nothing new. It goes back to a partnership between François Benzi, a senior flavour chemist at the world’s largest privately owned flavour house, Firmenich, and owner of three-Michelin-starred U.K. restaurant, The Fat Duck, and Chef extraordinaire, Heston Blumenthal. What both have in common is the love for unusual and unconventional food combinations, such as white chocolate and caviar.

House of Macadamias takes great pride in the evolution of their product range, and looks at the naturally present qualities of the magical macadamia nut, and what flavours and seasonings compliment the subtle, buttery taste and creamy texture.

Our latest flavour is a first to market.

We’ve hit the innovation nail on the head with our dry roasted macadamia nuts, enrobed in a creamy dairy-free white chocolate coating. The addition of raspberry brings bursts of natural berry to our white chocolate and raspberry dipped macadamia nuts.

What makes our innovative new product so unique? The dairy-free coating, with no added sugar that has all the qualities of white chocolate. It’s also keto-, paleo- and vegan-friendly, like all House of Macadamias bars and nut products.

This is the perfect snack for all of you chocolate-loving vegans out there. How is our coating vegan? Chocolate is made from cacao beans, which are grown on cacao trees. This means that chocolate is inherently a plant-based food. The question of whether or not chocolate is vegan starts when you consider the chocolate making process and the addition of milk that is usually added to create the final product. We don’t add any animal products, such as dairy to our coating,  making it suitable for vegans – and still delicious (and healthy) to eat.
